We have money to spend, dammit!

Darlene just asked me why Canada doesn't have a 'Black Friday' like the US. I, Karl One Who Has Answer For Everything, was at a loss for an explanation.

If any Canadian retailers can offer an explanation for why we don't have our own rock 'em sock 'em sale worthy of mobs trampling people to death, please feel free to chime in.

Karl, we don't have Black Friday sales cause we don't have a Black Friday. Our Thanksgiving is early and falls on a monday. We have our "rock 'em sock 'em" sale on December 26/

I understand why we 'technically' don't have a Black Friday. What Darlene wants to know is why all of our supposed sales, even the fakery that is the Boxing Day Sale, don't measure up to a typical Black Friday sale.

Because we are greedier and more shallow than our Canadian friends. And to harken back to a summer conversation we had....it would be 'UnAmerican' to NOT have sales.
Was there something I needed to pick up for your Darlene?
